Pastor Freddie L. Banks was called to the ministry in 1977. He preached his first sermon on Sept. 11, 1977 at St. John Baptist Church. He graduated from the Detroit Bible College and William Tyndale Bible College. After joining St. John Baptist Church, he served in various ministries and became President of the Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent of Sunday School. He was also the Director of the Baptist Training Union, President of Brotherhood Union and Chairman of the Deacon Board. In 1978, he became the assistant pastor until 1982 before going on to serve at St. Mary Baptist Church in 1983. Later, he was called to preach at Fellowship of Believers, which was later named New Testament Missionary Baptist Church. October of 2016 will mark his 33rd year of preaching.
